1975
part II
The Elan 250 single and the 250 twin Deluxe had a new suspension setup with three sets of 4 bogie wheels. That provided better weight distibution for a more comfortable ride and longer track life. Some people thought that the two cylinder Deluxe had bad pulling power compared to the single 250. The twin had some problems with overheating when pulling sleighs. That problem was "solved" with cutting a hole in the fan-side of the hood and inserting a coffe can to direct cold air straight into the fan! Not the best looking solution and not recomended!

For 1975 the bogie suspension was improved. It now had four sets of four wheels. That 4-4-4 bogie suspension would last all the the way to the end in 1996. For 1975 the fuel tank was made slightly smaller (4,2 US gal) to allow for growth of the polythyene tank without its binding to the frame.  Total production was 14787 (J. A. Bombardier museum).
The SS and the Deluxe had a "super efficient" 5-port cylinder design. The extra transfer port increased performance by allowing faster fuel charge without sacrificing famous Rotax reliability. Every machine came equipped with electric starter, battery seat, rectifier and all wiring installed. At a manual start price! The ´Doo dealer could install a low cost battery kit in minutes.

These days it´s popular with "factory" customizing  to make your sled more personal. It is not a new idea. The white 1975 Elan 250 single was avalibale with four different colorful personalized decals. The decals also ended up one some DL and SS.
